Neighbor Risks Life to Save Family, Sustains Injuries

In the early hours of today (17th August), a fire broke out in Ulu Klang, Selangor, trapping a family of three inside their home. Thanks to the brave efforts of a nearby resident, the family managed to escape unharmed.

Ahmad Mukhriz, Deputy Director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, reported that 24-year-old neighbor Raja Butra rushed into the burning building to rescue the family. Although he successfully saved the trio, Raja sustained injuries from broken glass and had to be treated at a local hospital.

The rescued family, which includes a 45-year-old, a 21-year-old, and a 5-year-old, was evacuated from the back of their burning house by the neighbor.The Fire Department received the distress call at 1:15 AM and arrived to find that the fire had engulfed four two-story terrace houses, with each house suffering about 30% damage.“Three people were trapped inside the burning home, but their neighbor managed to rescue them. While the rescued individuals were unharmed, the rescuer was injured by glass shards,” the Fire Department stated.

The fire also destroyed a second-hand car, an Aruz, and a Honda Wave 110 motorcycle. Additionally, another Honda Wave 110 and a Yamaha Lagenda were damaged, with 5% to 10% of their areas burned.
