Today (14th), the Johor Bahru South District Police Chief, Ramu, held a press conference to announce that, based on intelligence, police conducted a raid on two stores in Johor Bahru on the 7th of this month. The operation lasted two hours. Preliminary investigations revealed that the 44-year-old suspect's urine test was negative for drugs, and he has no prior criminal record. However, the police believe he is involved in a drug trafficking ring and has been active in drug-related crimes since June. His method involves using the stores as hubs for repackaging and storing illicit substances before distributing them.During the raid, the police confiscated 299 packets of ecstasy powder worth RM211,250, as well as ketamine, 1,541 ecstasy tablets, and five “5-5” pills. The total value of the seized drugs is RM2,214,440, which could have served 44,180 users if distributed.Additionally, the police recovered RM700 in cash, a car, jewelry, tools, and two gold cards from the scene.The suspect is currently held under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking and will be detained for seven days. If convicted, he faces the death penalty, life imprisonment, or caning.
